Global Traceability joined and presented a workshop of key stakeholders in Kinshasa, DR Congo to share knowledge on timber certification and traceability systems to improve forest governance in the region.
We are continuing to develop our experience in Africa and in the DR Congo, a country with a key role in tackling deforestation of tropical timber. We believe technology will play a significant part in making the timber trade environmentally and economically sustainable.
The workshop, organised by the Federation of Timber Manufacturers and the ATIBT (Association Technique Internationale des Bois Tropicaux), gathered members of the administration, environmental civil society and private forestry sector.
Our presentation – available in French – can be viewed below. We’re delighted with the positive feedback from those attending and look forward to further events in DR Congo and Cote D’Ivoire. RADIX Tree enables timber producers from anywhere in the world to upload and share information on their products with their clients. Efficient and verifiable data gathering on the timber origin is vital for the long-term sustainability of the trade.
Are you a timber exporter in Africa? Tell us about your experiences, we can discuss how RADIX Tree can work for you.
